19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt
A comeback Medvedev secured his maiden championship for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents his first championship since the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt from March of that year.
The win also means the Russian has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different competitions.
"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a title is really nice," commented ranked player the champion.
"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.
The player's retrieving strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his skill to play at the top level was over.
However the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an improved service.
Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players swapped breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to force a decider.
He defended four early-game chances in a close deciding set before Medvedev broke to 15 to secure the win.
Fittingly, he secured victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
